Chaet (1924-2012) was an American artist and educator, known for his modernist paintings and as a Professor of Art at Yale University from 1951 to 1990, including a stint as chairman of the department. The book, featuring its Bauhaus-inspired pictorial dust jacket, was designed by Chaet’s colleague at Yale, the renowned artist and graphic designer Norman Ives.
