[1ST ED] Andy Warhol's Index (Book)
First edition (stated first printing) hardcover with silver lettered spine and lenticular overlay on front cover, published by Random House in 1967. Iconic Pop Art artist book created by Warhol with assistance from Stephen Shore, Paul Morrissey, Ondine, Nico, Christopher Cerf, Alan Rinzler, Gerald Harrison, Akihito Shirakawa and David Paul. Monochromatic illustrations throughout including photos by Nat Finkelstein and Billy Name. Lacking the photographic polyhedron (though the string is present) and the Lou Reed flexi-disk. The balloon/condom has fused between pages, as is common, with some browning to adjacent pages. All other elements are present and in good form, viz: pop-up castle; paper accordion; pop-up bi-plane; “Chelsea Girls” paper disc with spring; colorful nose fold-out; Hunt’s Tomato can pop up; and four detachable Warhol tabs with four blank tabs. Textblock pulling away from spine slightly at the top. Light rubbing and soiling to boards.
